Greetings from Glendale, Ariz.; site of Super Bowl XLII!

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Segway PTs will be ubiquitous here as the different public service agencies do their part to keep fans safe during Super Bowl week. The Glendale Fire Department has added six Segway PTs to their fleet of eight for Super Bowl week. The Glendale Police Department are patrolling on 8 more. University of Phoenix Stadium security has been making the rounds on their two units, and security guards at Westgate Plaza continue to patrol their stores on the Segway PTs they own. Medical Sports Group, which provides medical services to the NFL, has also rented a few units from Segway of Scottsdale to get around the complex during the week.

On Friday, the Segway PTs were displayed alongside helicopters, perimeter scanners, emergency chemical and medical lab vehicles and the like when the various organizations invited the press to see the specialized equipment to be used. Some pretty amazing technology, and we’re proud to be a part of it!

Segway PTs in back of Flextreme concept

Building off of a collaboration we established with GM Europe’s Opel brand, the party is moving stateside.

Saturn Flextreme

Starting today, GM is showing off a Saturn version of the Flextreme concept at the 2008 North American International Auto Show. And yes, it’s complete with two modified Segway PTs in the FlexLoad cargo space.

GMnext has a couple of videos about the development of the concept. Check them out.

Some folks got word of the announcement early, but it’s never too late to think about a day when Segway PTs could be integrated into a car for - dare we say - the last mile.

Rudy visits Segway

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

U.S. presidential candidate Mayor Rudy Giuliani visited Segway Inc. today to conduct a town hall meeting with employees and local guests. Segway Inc. does not make political endorsements, but was honored to host Rudy as things heat up for next week’s New Hampshire primary.

Below are some photos from today’s event. We’re cutting together some video that we’ll post as soon as it’s ready. Enjoy!
