Every Segway Navimow owner in New Zealand just got more than they paid for.
That's right! Navimow has just been updated over-the-air with seriously useful new functionality, iterative improvements, and some more fun features as well.
Plus, every new Navimow customer will get all this goodness automatically installed when they take their Navimow out of the box.
Let's check out the 'Big Ticket' goodies that v2.2 of the Navimow firmware and Navimow App have to offer.
The ability to easily Split existing maps into multiple areas is not just handy, it improves the mowing efficiency on complex lawn layouts (i.e. it gets the job finished faster, with fewer turning manoeuvres at the boundaries).
Every time you send Navimow out to do a mowing cycle it picks a different mowing direction. This improves the quality of the lawn and ensures that "tracks" don't appear in the turf from constantly driving the same path over and over. Navimow offers the ability to limit the number of possible directions to pick from, down to as few as one direction. But unless you have a square shaped lawn some directions will be more efficient than others. With complex lawn shapes and multiple Off-limit Islands some mowing directions will be short runs across a narrow passage requiring many turns to get the job done. This is inefficient. Now, you can split off such areas as separate Zones, and set the mowing direction(s) to just the most efficient subset of possible directions.
The new UPDATE feature lets you join together two previously mapped separate areas into one larger map (without having to remap both areas).
With Device Sharing one App user can check on the progress of and fully control a particular Navimow bound to another App user. Up to 5 Navimow units can be shared in this way — more than enough for the whole family! No more needing to share one account to manage a Navimow fleet, which had the frustrating annoyance where the previous user got logged out when the next user logged in. This new feature is also super-convenient on commercial sites that have several staff member authorised to control the Navimow fleet.
Want to channel your inner video gamer? Controller mode lets you send Navimow out on mowing missions using a joystick on your phone's screen.
- Cut down those little patches of grass that have grown unreasonably fast, before automatically mowing the whole area.
- Top those daisies.
- Chase away the neighbour's dog!
That's right, Navimow-as-first-person-shooter (sans the projectile weapon) is here!
One of the very best things about Segway Navimow is that is a better, more function product today than it was when you purchased it yesterday — without costing you a penny more. And it was already the world's best robot lawnmower then...now it is even better today.
