Sculptureum gets a Navimow

Sculptureum, one of New Zealand's most popular tourist attractions, has installed a Segway Navimow.

Tasked with keeping their immaculate lawns perfectly mowed, Navimow is right at home amongst the colourful 'objects of art' that abound within the grounds of this most unique attraction. Rated #2 Attraction on TripAdvisor this week, Sculptureum always in the Top 5 — jostling with Te Papa, Hobbiton and Hamilton Gardens).

Every aspect of the vibrant, colourful Sculptureum Experience is, well, perfectly sculptured — including the manicured lawns. And the owners and groundskeepers are delighted that Navimow has already further improved the colour and quality of their well-kept, tightly trimmed lawns.

Navimow glides easily from lawn to lawn - 10 separate lawns in all - sometimes during the day, sometimes at night. The VisionFence camera ensures it avoids objects that move from day to day, such as the colourful dogs and rabbits, and various sandwich board informational signs (of course, we already know Navimow is smart enough to recognise humans and other animals such as dogs and cats).

Sculptureum has three main areas - a series of variously shaped lawns in front of the main building and restaurant, the outdoor sculpture garden and the indoor museum.

While Navimow has no need to venture indoors, it has been set up to mow almost all of the lawns outside of the garden, and the largest of the lawns inside known as The Whale Garden.

Here's the mowing map of the ten separate lawn areas it is mowing.

There are many Off-limit Islands programmed into the map, including 10 specimen trees on the largest lawn. While some objects are permanent, others move from day to day, such as the colourful dogs and rabbits, and various sandwich boards. Navimow's VisionFence camera ensures these are carefully mown around — wherever they may be found on any given day.

There are many edges and transitions between lawn, driveways and concreted areas. Navimow can straddle them with ease.

There is so much to see at Sculptureum — be sure to visit their website to get a better idea this remarkable destination.
