Navimow: a practical example of the benefit of VisionFence (AI camera)

VisionFence uses an AI camera see and make sense of its environment. For example, the Navimow i-series can recognise 150 types of obstacles.

Here's an example of Navimow H-series utilising the power of VisionFence to detect a large puddle that isn't normally present on a lawn (so has not been marked as a temporary or permanent exclusion zone).

Navimow spots the water and avoids the puddle, and mows around it instead of right through it.

Navimow's VisionFence AI camera spots the wet spot, drives around the puddle, avoids getting wet feet.

When it comes to mow again in a couple of days, if the puddle has drained away then Navimow will mow down the grass that was previously underwater.

Here's how the Navimow App displays to the user that it has seen and has avoided an "object" (in this case, a puddle) within a mapped area during the current mowing cycle. The on-screen maps shows a small area that hasn't been mowed this time around.

The Navimow App indicates the area left unmoved because VisionFence detected an object (a puddle).

We've already explored an example of how Navimow avoids piles of leaves or hedge cuttings in our earlier article Example 5: Navimow avoids driving into trouble, thanks to VisonFence spotting hedge clippings

Another instance of something that might be avoided is a really large leaf that has fallen onto the lawn. For example, a large brown puka leaf may be avoided. Then, a couple of days later during the next mowing cycle that leaf will likely have blown away (or been raked up), and Navimow will mow the previously covered grass.

Navimow ignores small non-grass items on a lawn, for example scattered fallen leaves. It just mows them on up!

A more interesting example is this tiny wet patch on the lawn — see how Navimow has decided this is something it can safely drive through and carry on mowing.

Navimow drives through this wet patch. Bonus point if you can spot the 2nd Navimow in this photo.
