The Motorhome RV and the Segway PT

Bryan and Marge Carter love living on the road. For them, retirement has been about travelling around New Zealand in their motorhome (or RV, as they're known in the United States). Bryan loves to walk several kilometres a day, but Marge is unable to keep up for health reasons. A couple of years ago they purchased a brand new Segway i2 SE to enable Marge to continue to explore and experience the great outdoors together with her husband. They say the Segway PT has been an absolutely wonderful purchase. Because New Zealand is long, thin country, we have a lot of beaches. A lot! And beachside campgrounds are popular spots with motorhome owners. Marge decided she'd like to have wider tyres on her Segway i2 SE for riding on softer sand. The standard i2 SE wheels are the best choice for most people with this model because the special tread pattern and non-marking tyres offer excellent traction combined with extended range. And changing to the Segway x2 SE model was not an option either - it was too heavy and large, and their lifestyle choice comes with limited cargo space. Marge picked BodyElectric MAX Town & Country Wheels as the perfect match to her needs. These aluminium wheels and cross-terrain tyres offer a great "middle-ground" option for i2 SE owners who'd kinda like having an x2 SE some days. The tyre is about twice as wide as the standard i2 SE tyre and has about four times the surface area contact with the ground to spread the load. MAX Wheels are compatible with standard i2 SE fenders and are narrow enough to pass through residential doorways with ease.

Bryan tows a small ancillary van behind they motorhome, and this also serves as his mobile "bloke's shed" complete with every tool he might need while out on the road. The Segway i2 SE fits snuggly in a dedicated space the rear of the van. To load, Bryan simply rolls the Segway PT up or down a pair of lightweight, folding Segway Ramps in seconds. The Segway PT easily loads under its own power, safely climbing or descending the ramps without requiring any lifting or excessive strength. The folded ramps stow neatly in the space under the Segway PT.

While the Segway PT has a built-in electronic alarm and immobiliser, and a cable lock can be slipped through the lower LeanSteer stem to secure it to any lamp post/bike rack/tree, Marge was still a little concerned about theft. She decided that painting her Segway PT in her favourite colour - BRIGHT PINK - should be enough to deter any young lad who might want to make off with her prized and essential mobility companion. And yes of course she has a matching pink helmet!
