Russley Golf Course has been a key part of Segway NZ's 'Terranox Pilot Program' this year.
We deployed a Terranox CM120 at this beautiful Christchurch course in April 2026, and staff there have been putting it through its paces ever since.

Russley has a great deal of experience with robot mowers, having previously deployed Husqvarna models and more recently testing various other manufacturers too. Segway NZ first trialled the Navimow X390 at Russley in 2025.
Golf courses throughout New Zealand are facing increasing operating costs, with a weak NZ dollar driving up the cost of replacement tractor and ride-on mowers, war and ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East doubling fuel costs, and falling revenues from memberships.
Turf management is a resource- and labour-intensive part of the business of operating a golf course. Robot mowers offer a partial solution by reducing costs.
Navimow Terranox is designed to mow the "rough" and "semi-rough" areas of a golf course, found either side of the fairways and between the holes. These areas often include trees and what they drop - leaves, sticks, cones, etc. Cutting height ranges from 20mm to 100mm, and up to 120 separate Zones can each have their own cutting height. Fit the Low Cut kit and it can mow down to 10mm.

Russley Golf Course has determined Navimow Terranox has the right combination of:
- purchase price
- price per hectare mowed
- industry leading four wheel drive performance with unique Xero-Turn and Ackerman Steering to minimise the impact on turf
- fast!
- advanced AI vision for safety around golfers and object recognition and avoidance
- the best App in the industry - easy to use yet packed full of features
- Navimow Fleet Management portal for managing large numbers of Terranox deployed across a course, or at multiple locations
Because this was a pilot program Russley staff were invited to provide several rounds of feedback to the team at Segway Navimow. These suggestions and criticisms were both encouraged and embraced. In some cases software updates with new features were able to be developed and rolled out in just days.
Segway NZ looks forward to this pilot program having been just the first step on a long association with Russley Golf Club.
